Canon Update

Canon Update
Canon updates in Apocalypse How are non-standard. There's no going home, there's no coma. Instead, there is the Visionary, a young avatar located in Bonnie's Flophouse. They are a frail person who always wears a blindfold and does not leave the Flophouse. Those who wish to know their potential future may request that the Visionary provide one for them. The Visionary will always agree, but will caveat that this is only a potential future and that they will need something in return... something precious. In return for visions of a potential future, the Visionary will take one important happy memory from the character.
Please note, the Visionary will not initiate interaction or request characters make use of their services. It will be a character choice to engage with them and offer up their memories. If this is something the character would do, they will receive whatever new canon material you desire in exchange for losing a happy memory. There will be no way to verify the veracity of this information unless someone from their world came in from a later point in time to corroborate it. The lost memory can be a canon memory or one gained within the game; it just needs to be important to the character.
Lost memories will be noticeably absent from the minds of characters, like someone ripped something out of them.

Character: Jack Townsend (
Happy Memory: His very first book club meeting with his friend Rosa. They made ice cream sandwiches and listened to French music while they talked about the novel, a political sci-fi thriller about a scientist who clones Napoleon Bonaparte ninety-six times and raises them on an isolated island so he can take over the world. There was a Napooleon-on-Napoleon love scene. Afterward, she asked him on a date. Tragically, he'll also forget contents of the book.
New Canon Information:
→ he found out Jerry was still alive & the months upon months he thought he spent alone at the gas station was actually like a week, he was just having a mental breakdown
→ he discovered everyone in the town was replaced with clones who didn't know they were clones, essentially meaning Brother Riley (aka The Collector, the villain of book 3) had a sleeper army he could activate at any time
→ a mimic clone of Jack's psychiatrist shows up to break the news that Jack does not actually have Fatal Familial Insomnia, but instead trauma induced parasomnia. he then vomits up black clone goo, is activated by Brother Riley, and kills himself to make it look like Jack was responsible in an effort to get him arrested
→ they learn that Rosa has a gift that makes her a potential vessel for the Dark God (counter-intuitively, the Good Guy deus ex machina); she performs the ritual to harbor him. he helps them get through the town to where Brother Riley has been collecting supernatural entities to harness their power & so he can take over the gas station, which would fuel him enough to break free of the magic that imprisons him in Jack's town and enable him to take over the world
→ it turns out they're too late, the Dark God isn't powerful enough to stop him; the only entity that could is a being named the Guardian, one of the supernatural entities Brother Riley had imprisoned, who was trapped within a vessel in a coma. to reach him, they would have to transfer the Guardian's consciousness into another body via stabbing themselves with a magic dagger, a process that's like "cramming an exploding star into a plastic bag; the Guardian will feed off of the spark of energy in its host's mind, but there aren't any bodies strong enough to contain the force of such a powerful entity"
→ Jack tried to volunteer himself, but Deputy O'Brien handcuffed him to a pole with the intention of sacrificing herself instead. unfortunately, Brother Riley showed up before she could and knocked out everybody but Jack — who is immune, as his brain is incapable of going past the lightest REM sleep and always retains some awareness of his surroundings
→ Brother Riley rewrote the memory of a monster hunter soldier clone named Benjamin to make Jack seem like a villain, and left him to die when Benjamin woke up. handcuffed to a pole with no way out and no way to stop what was happening, Jack tried to cut his own hand off with what little he had at his disposal (the sharp end of a plastic credit card he snapped into a point) but it wasn't working
→ Jack hallucinates Spencer, who offers him a gun to blow his hand off. Jack almost does it, until he realizes how stupid that is and instead shoots the handcuff chain, freeing himself to get to the ceremonial dagger and sacrifice himself by falling on it
→ he travels the weird metaphysical cosmic afterlife to find the Guardian, who looks exactly like Bill Murray from his Ghost Busters era. The Guardian says he can fix things by making everyone forget, essentially wiping Brother Riley from the face of the planet but also sort-of resetting the world in the process — but cautioning Jack that it may be better to just let everyone die, because there's a horrific cosmic unstoppable pain entity headed for Earth to cause eternal suffering. Jack chooses to go through with it, believing they'll find some way to stop the entity later
→ afterward, presumably at the end of his existence, Jack found himself in a totally white space with four closed walls and no doors, where he probably would have been trapped forever, except he figured out how to manipulate reality and chose instead to leave by going "in". he began to shrink through himself, then particles and atoms and universes, met God (who is a whale), continued to travel inward until he experienced the Big Bang, found Earth, and went slamming into his own body again
→ back on Earth and alive, things seem to be solved — the town is back to normal-ish, Brother Riley is gone, and Jack even gets a new sleep doctor who realizes he's grossly over medicated, actually helps him, and he now gets almost an hour of deep sleep most nights
→ it seems like absolutely nobody but Jack remembers anything that happened
→ ... until it started to become ominously clear that the universal patch-job might not be holding when Jerry suddenly remembered everything
APPROVED
And in turn, there will be thoughts, images, and possibilities shoved into his head, a swirling cacophony of memories he'll probably need a few days or more to fully process. Whether any of it is true or not... well, the Visionary makes no guarantees.
It is up to you if this update and feeding happens because Jack pressed the Visionary for a glimpse of his future, or because of an accidental slip on the Visionary's part. Either way, when it's over, the Visionary will look blissfully relaxed for a few seconds, like they've just finished a big meal and they're sitting back to mull over what's left of it on their tongue. But that vanishes soon enough, replaced by horror and apologies, and the Visionary rushing away, locking herself in the basement and refusing to speak to Jack or anyone else about it.

Character: Andrew Jaeger (
Happy Memory: Jaeger is giving up the memory of the first time he held his daughter, at the hospital after his wife's very difficult labor and birth.
New Canon Information: When Jaeger was taken from his world, he had just been run off the road by the servants of the blood mage hunting him, a group of elite killers known as Conservators. After a brief battle, Jaeger was incapacitated on the ground with a gun at his head. He was taken to Gloucester just as the gun went off, leaving his fate unclear.
The Conservators decided that they were going to play with Jaeger for a bit, and shot him in the leg instead of the head, leaving him gravely wounded but alive- Easterbrook had plans to succeed where his previous disciples had failed. Fortunately, however, the capture would not go as planned.
Unknown to Jaeger at the time, the ambush party had been spotted and followed by fellow allies of Jaeger's mentor, a mysterious woman (?) calling herself Indigo. The friendlies arrived just as Jaeger was being dragged off, and managed to fend off Easterbrook's men just in time. A bloody fight ensued, but Jaeger was ultimately rescued and spirited away to a medic to have his wounds tended. Magical healing helped some, but Jaeger was left with permanent damage to his leg, more scars, and the need for some recovery time- both mentally and physically.
Indigo and her lieutenant arranged for Jaeger to be transported to a secret ranch in upstate New York where he could rest and recover. For six months, Jaeger spent his time tending other injured and recovering agents, doing research, and letting himself heal in a safe place.
Some of this time was also spent in Indigo's company. A cunning, dedicated, but half-feral young woman, the time that Jaeger and Indigo worked together resulted in a growing bond. Indigo was one of the few people fully aware of what Jaeger had gone through in his escape from the Brighter Dawn Foundation, a rare confidante, and while most of her own background was a mystery, Jaeger found that he was drawn to her passion and kindness.
The two briefly became lovers while Jaeger was recovering, until Indigo left again to continue her fight against Easterbrook and his organization. It was a gentle parting, with a promise that they'd meet again soon and that if Jaeger needed her, she would be there.
Jaeger left the ranch once his leg had healed enough to allow him to continue his work. The end of his new memories is just as he's leaving New York, uncertain of his next destination but determined to resume his duties hunting dark magic users.
The months of rest and his growing bond with Indigo have helped Jaeger and he will be a bit calmer, more settled after his time in New York. He feels a bit less isolated, a bit more able to open up, and he's managed to let go of some of his guilt over his actions as an employee of Brighter Dawn. He believes in his mission, and Indigo has managed to give him a measure of peace, reminding him that they not only hunt and kill, but also rescue and heal others who had been victimized in the way they had been.
These changes are subtle, but leave Jaeger feeling calmer and more settled, and he's also very much relieved to find out that he does actually survive his encounter with the Conservators. Previously, he was sure that the gunshot was his death, and while he's not happy to find that he's been partially crippled, it's very much preferable to the bullet to the head he was sure he was getting.

While there will be no physical change for Jaeger, he may experience phantom pains associated with the injuries these visions have given him.

Character: Peter Parker (
Happy Memory: The last weekend he really remembers spending with his parents before he was dropped off at May and Ben's apartment for the last time. It is one of the last concrete memories he has of his parents.
New Canon Information:
The rest of Spider-Man: Far From Home picking up where he left off:
-Peter heads back to the hotel his class is staying at after giving Beck the EDITH glasses. He walks into the hotel, greeted by his teachers, Ned and MJ.
-He asks MJ to come out for a walk with him. She agrees and Peter is excited to have this time with her.
-He changes back into his casual clothes to meet her in the lobby.
-He makes a point to bring the necklace he bought for MJ with him, intending to confess his feelings to her. They head out after she comes downstairs.
-MJ uses this time to question Peter about his whereabouts and if he's Spider-Man.
-Peter flounders, not sure how to answer her insistent questioning. He awkwardly puts away the necklace in a tin he had in hand.
-He is convinced she was only interested in him because he is Spider-Man.
-As proof he is Spider-Man, MJ pulls out a piece of projector she found earlier with his webbing on it.
- When Peter asks if this was why she was watching him all the time, MJ accidentally confirms she was only interested in him because of Spider-Man.
-MJ accidentally activates the projector by dropping it. The projector begins playing an earlier fight Beck had with an Elemental. The two teenagers startle away from the projector. Peter goes to cautiously pick it up and examines it. More pre-made footage plays.
-Peter questions who could have done this only for Mysterio's image to come swinging into the hologram fighting the monster.
-Peter changes gears, panicking as he realizes he gave a villain the EDITH glasses. He knows he needs to catch Mysterio and reveal the lie to Nick Fury. Peter confirms to MJ yes, he is spider-man. He also says they need to head back inside now to make sure Mysterio gets taken care of. MJ fumbles awkwardly, surprised and elated she was right.
-The two teens rush back to the hotel so he can change into his Night Monkey suit. Peter intends to go warn Nick Fury about Beck being a liar.
-Ned walks in on Peter changing in front of MJ, awkwardly tries to cover up the fact Peter is in a Night Monkey costume. Peter assures his friend MJ is in the know.
-He asks Ned and MJ to cover for him.
-He bails to head to Berlin to catch up with SHEILD and Beck. He doesn't try calling Fury before hand, worried his phone has been bugged.
-He arrives in Berlin by daybreak.
-Peter's picked up by hologram Nick Fury (beck or his team) in a rental car. He is taken to the warehouse under an illusion.
-Entirety of the illusion scene unfolds pushing Peter through the warehouse to a trainyard in the back.
-Right up until the train scene, where it collides with Peter head on.
Peter will think he's actively dead back home, and it will make him actively distraught in game. It will also make him double down on helping the ADI since his attempts to not be Spider-Man failed so spectacularly it lead to his death. I'll likely say ICly this happens after his punishment ended.

Character: Edalyn Clawthorne (
Happy Memory:
If it can be something we know happened but didn’t see onscreen: the first time Eda and Raine played their instruments together.
If it needs to be a more specific piece of canon let me know and I’ll settle on one!
New Canon Information:
[The episodes Edge of the World (S2-17) through For the Future (S3-02)]
-Shortly after being filled in on Luz's experience in Emperor Belos's mind, Eda sent Luz and King to investigate a mysterious letter King received.
-The owl house was then raided by the Emperor's Coven, with Eda, Lilith and Hooty managing to escape and hide out. They proceeded to come up with no viable plans for dealing with Belos and his scheme to wipe out everyone on the Isles on the Day of Unity.
-Luz and King were able to reunite with the group and Eda learned that they'd discovered King was a baby Titan, the same species of giant as the skeleton that makes up the Boiling Isles.
-Eda chose to tell the kids she definitely had a secret plan and things weren't as hopeless as she actually thought.
-Eda asked what Luz wanted to do with the day; Luz wanted to steal back King’s favorite stuffed toy from the Emperor’s Coven. They snuck into a warehouse, where Eda found the opportunity to contact Raine via crystal ball. She asked them to help get her kids to safety before the Day of Unity.
-Raine agreed, but Luz overheard this plan and felt abandoned. Eda and Luz fought about it, eventually drawing attention and getting themselves captured by guards. While the two were being transported to prison, Eda admitted she had no plan for fighting the Emperor and wanted to do the best she could to keep her kids out of danger.
-Eda and Luz were rescued by Raine and other allies. Eda learned that Raine was only faking their previous brainwashed loyalty to the Emperor, and that they were working with other Coven Heads (Darius and Eberwolf) to form a rebellion (the Covens Against the Throne, AKA the CATs.)
-Eda learned the details of the Day of Unity; the Emperor planned to channel a spell through the nine Coven Heads, which would drain the life of everyone who had been inducted into a coven and branded with a sigil—almost the entire population of the Boiling Isles.
-The CATs didn’t see a way to stop Belos from performing the spell, however they came up with a plan to corrupt it. Eda’s curse interferes with magic, and they planned to have Eda impersonate Raine as head of the Bard Coven, in the hopes it would disrupt the spell from within. Eda agreed to this plan, which included being given a coven sigil.
-As they prepared for the Day of Unity, Eda helped Luz carve her palisman, which Luz chose to make an egg in the hopes it would choose its own form when it hatched.
-Eda sent Luz to find her girlfriend, Amity and make sure she was safe. Eda, Raine, and the CATs meanwhile left for the Day of Unity ceremony. On the way, Eda was given an illusion to look like Raine, and branded with a Bard Coven sigil, despite Raine beginning to voice worries and second guess the plan.
-Eda took Raine’s place as the Coven Heads prepared for the draining spell, and when it began Eda’s curse initially interfered with it, but she was discovered as an imposter. After a brief fight between the loyal Coven Heads and the CATs, they along with the real Raine were captured. Raine was put back in place, and the draining spell resumed.
-Everyone with a coven sigil began to weaken and pass out. Eda’s curse, reacting poorly with the draining spell, began to destroy her body. Raine told her they’d promised a special kid they’d protect her and pulled her arm off before passing out themself. Eda’s arm disintegrated, severing the connection to the draining spell and saving her life; her right arm was permanently lost.
-An incredibly powerful but childlike alien being called the Collector appeared, and stopped the draining spell. Eda and Raine, who was able to awaken, watched as the Collector began to tear apart the landscape and saw that King was with them. Eda turned into a harpy in an effort to rescue King, but then transformed fully into the owlbeast before she could get to him.
-The owlbeast was put into an enclosure by the Collector. At some point, Eda was able to transform back to normal and was filled in on current events by King.
-She learned that Luz escaped to the human realm along with Amity, Gus, Willow, and Hunter.
-She also learned that the Collector was an ancient being who had been helping Belos under the promise of being freed from the dimension they were trapped in, before being betrayed by him. King was able to befriend the Collector, convincing them to stop the draining spell so they could play together if King freed them. Unfortunately, the Collector also proceeded to make massive changes to the Isles, and transform almost everyone else into puppets for themself and King to ‘play’ with. King was able to convince them to simply contain the owlbeast, and to free Lilith from puppet form to care for it. Lilith began to make potions for Eda, to keep her in witch form, unbeknownst to the Collector.
-Despite King trying to maintain the lie that Eda was still the owlbeast and therefore couldn’t be drafted into the Collector’s idea of games, Eda began to regularly sneak out to visit Raine, who was trapped in puppet form along with the other Coven Heads.
-King brought Hooty (in puppet form) to Eda and Lilith, before talking to them about the Collector. Eda learned that they came from a race of beings which wiped out King’s species, the Titans. She also learned that King saw the Collector as another child, one whose loneliness he could relate to despite how powerful and dangerous they were. King told Eda about his plan to stop the Collector from hurting people by simply talking to them about why they shouldn’t do that.

As Eda is lucky #4, she will notice a change that comes over the Visionary after this latest feeding. His fingers seem to twist, bending and curling in unnatural shapes. Corkscrew-like, then almost like a silly straw for how they elongate. Their blissful expression is just wrong, as well. Almost like they're... fractured. But all of it vanishes quickly, and with her mind already overburdened and partially tattered, can she really trust what she saw? Who can say?

I was planning to call it an accidental slip on the Visionary's part. Also, given what happens, after she takes a bit to sort her brain out Eda will probably... suggest Bonnie check on them, especially if he is hiding hiding more than usual after this feeding. (I don't think she's necessarily mad at her, but the bendy straw fingers seem a little concerning!)
Also I just wanted to double check if there are any specific consequences to the limb loss in the update, since I'd seen that come up with other injuries. Thanks!

Noted that it was an accident and that she would mention the situation to Bonnie!
