Apocalypse How has entered its endgame.
As of October 11, 2023, applications are CLOSED to all new characters. Previously accepted character may reapply at any time until November 25th at 11:59 PM Pacific Time.
There are no cast or character caps for returning players. Simply repost your previously accepted application and you will be admitted to the game.

History: A wiki link is fine for characters that have them. If you're applying to play an OC, please provide a brief paragraph summarizing the world information of your character on top of their personal history.
Personality: Describe your character's top five traits. At least one should be a positive and one should be a negative. Feel free to provide these in bullet points! Please provide canon support for these traits. We will ask for revisions if these are not included. (A brief paragraph for each trait is enough.) Whether bullet points or a standard paragraph/narrative, please bold the five traits in this section somewhere.
Suitability: Because there is nothing keeping new arrivals from simply disappearing off into the rest of the world, please tell us why you believe your character would choose to engage with the setting in some way. What are their motives for sticking around and participating with either ADI or other NPCs?
Powers/Abilities: Provide description of your characters abilities, including notable mundane ones. For powers that may have a particularly crunchy bend to them (e.g., DnD characters and those from video games where there are specific move sets like Persona or Final Fantasy), please do not give us each named attack/stats. Rather, we would like a summary of how the power functions in a narrative context. When summarizing powers, please assume the mods and other players are not familiar with your character's canon. If your character has a move that gives them +3 to Strength for 15 minutes, it would be better to summarize that as "[Character] can use magic to give themselves a temporary strength boost." Please note that game-breaking abilities will be nerfed at the mods' discretion. Additionally, we would prefer that players preemptively provide nerfs/limits for abilities they believe to be OP or game-breaking.
THIS APPLICATION is one we consider to be the gold standard in terms of the Powers section. It clearly lays out what the character can do and subdivides those abilities into what will require a Patron to power and reasonable nerfs (where appropriate). It also has excellent examples of curses for magic items.
Entity Affinity: Characters coming in to the game with supernatural abilities will only be able to use them at the cost of feeding one of the Entities (and non-powered characters may have the chance to gain abilities by beginning to serve one of them). Using the Entity information HERE, choose the Entity that is fueling (or would fuel your character), based on the kinds of fears they encompass. This should be determined either by the Entity that would either attract your character or would feed on them. Provide a brief explanation of your choice, based on the character's history or personality. Please Note: Your character's powers CANNOT be fueled purely by their own fears. In order to achieve anything beyond the barest semblance of some supernatural ability, they will have to terrorize other people. It is not enough for them to just be afraid of a thing themselves, they must inflict it or their powers will not manifest.
Powered and non-powered characters, alike, should fill in this section. Powered characters should choose a single Entity as their patron. Please note that if your characters powered abilities to not align with their identified patron, they will still need to perform acts of terror in line with that patron's desires. As an example, if a character has abilities that give them super-human hunting abilities, but they are aligned with the Spiral as their patron, they will need to terrorize people by upending their reality or making them doubt themselves in order to fuel their hunting powers. If you need help picking between options, please let us know on the app and we'll be happy to work with you on that. Non-powered characters may list multiple options for Entity alignment. You will not be restricted to what you put in the application if your non-powered character gains powers.
Inventory: Characters will have whatever items were on their person when brought into the game, excluding technology beyond the modern era. 'On their person' refers to what the character is physically wearing and/or carrying. Characters will be limited to three weapons. Magical objects brought with a character will become cursed upon arrival, following the same rules as character powers. If this is the case, please describe the nature of the curse/how it will inflict fear and what negative consequences it will have on your character or anyone else using it. If you're having difficulty coming up with a curse, the mods can provide suggestions. Please note if you'd like this option.
Samples: Please provide one sample that demonstrates your ability to write dialogue and one that highlights their internal thought process. Samples from memes/previous games are okay for both of these, but should be no more than 6 months old.
