Housing

Housing
ADI Housing is a modern apartment complex with separate apartment blocks where anyone working with and abiding by ADI's rules may live. As of May 2023, one of the apartment blocks has been rendered derelict due to cursed artifact effects and the misdeeds of the former ADI groundskeeper. The apartments of Block D stand empty and boarded up. There are the remnants of some graffiti that's unkind to those with powers and outsiders still somewhat visible for those looking for it, but much has been removed.
Apartments house up to three individuals with private living spaces and a shared living room, patio, and kitchen. There is an onsite pool and hot tub, a small gym, and laundry facilities. There is also fencing and some security that is mostly on its game, checking who comes and goes and maintaining the fencing. ADI covers all rent and utilities for anyone living in their housing; however, residents will be responsible for purchasing their own food when not eating at the Canteen at ADI Headquarters. The apartments are located in a nice neighborhood within Gloucester and within walking distance of ADI Headquarters and a number of shops (including groceries), as well as several bus stations. ADI provides bus passes to those working for them as a perk.
Housing assignments tend to be random for new arrivals, but people can request to move in together at any time. ADI just wants to know who is living where. There are some rules to observe while living in ADI Housing. Those found in violation of them will be removed and asked to find residence elsewhere, possibly at Bonnie's Flophouse.
1. No property destruction/fighting.
2. No illegal substances onsite.
3. No pets.
4. No loud noises/music past 10 PM.
5. People not affiliated with ADI are barred from entry.

Apartment Block D
A derelict apartment complex on the ADI Housing grounds. It has the remnants of hateful graffiti on it and seems to be in a bad state of disrepair. It could, feasibly be restored, but it seems like it took the brunt of some attack and has been boarded up and taped off.
Bonnie's Flophouse is a pair of connected townhouses in one of the more rundown neighborhoods at the outskirts of Gloucester. Many of the other townhouses and buildings around the neighborhood are perpetually abandoned and the area is blighted with petty crime. It is a place those who refuse ADI's strict housing policies will be directed. Rooms house two people and are small but well-loved in their decor. There is one communal space on the ground floor along with a few communal bathrooms for each floor. In Room 1 on the first floor, a memorial wall has been set up. The room is painted a simple, soft blue and the name of each missing or dead person from another world is painted in blocky brown letters from the ceiling down to the base board. The current list takes up nearly one wall, but there's plenty of room for other names. In the center of the wall, there are a few lines:
Those spoken of and to are never dead
Simply past us on the road ahead
On either wall next to the one with the names, there are narrow tables kept stocked with cheap tealights. There are more within one of the table drawers. There's also vases that can be filled with a small bunch of flowers. There aren't any chairs, but there are some mismatched floor pillows in a basket near the door. This is a place for contemplation and sharing stories of those found in this place and passed on to elsewhere.
The place is kept comfortable with the addition of colorful patterned rugs, fanciful wall murals, and various potted plants that somewhat overwhelm the common areas. Thanks to the efforts of tenants of the flophouse and others, this isn't a bad place to live. It's in decent repair and while it's not the high life of ADI housing, it's comfortable, well-insulated, and doesn't leak or flood. It even has a back-up generator if there are city power issues.
This is the housing to choose for characters who are looking for a little more privacy. Bonnie is very hands off, doesn't have any sort of curfew, and makes an effort to keep out of her tenants' private affairs unless they invite her into them.
Bonnie doesn't charge rent, but she expects people to earn their keep by helping out with odd jobs and keeping the flophouse clean and in-repair. She has only two rules:
1. If you're going to fight with someone, take it away from the flophouse.
2. Ask for what you need, thieves will be removed from the Flophouse and told to find housing elsewhere.

For those who wish (or are forced) to find a residence away from ADI Housing or Bonnie's Flophouse, there are slim pickings. Due to a lack of papers/ID, they are most likely to be able to find a bedroom or substandard housing to rent from an unscrupulous property owner.
Private housing is taken on a case-by-case basis and you may only apply for private housing after at least three months in-game. We will request that you provide an explanation for how your character is affording their private housing and how you intend to keep them engaged with the main plot.

Character: Yelena Belova
Housing Type: PRIVATE
Private Housing Description: A run-down post-war detached house, the sort of thing opportunistic house flippers might say has "good bones", except opportunistic house flippers would be looking at a much nicer neighbourhood. Livable, but in need of repairs, and probably rumoured to be haunted.
Private Housing Rent: Yelena, Winter, and Steve are all pretty frugal people, and have saved most of their salary from ADI. Yelena and Winter in particular have been looking at establishing a safehouse since November of last year, recent developments are just forcing their hand. In terms of ongoing costs, all three are willing to work odd jobs until they can find something stable, and Yelena in particular has a very robust criminal skillset and a couple decades of experience at not getting caught, which she's willing to use to supplement their income.
Private Housing Plot Engagement: They still have friends on the inside who they're concerned with keeping safe; while their ability to engage with things on ADI grounds might be limited, they can be counted on to turn up otherwise. Also, Yelena snoops, Steve has a hero complex, and we all know Winter's probably going to start patrolling the city keeping an eye out for trouble.
