Rules

Be most excellent to each other. Treat one another with respect and communicate when there are OOC problems. Passive-aggressive, bullying, and/or antagonizing OOC behavior will not be tolerated.
Players must be 18+ to join the game.
Three strikes and you're out (with some exceptions). Players who knowingly violate rules will be given two warnings before being removed from the game. If it is a clear misunderstanding of the rules or something minor, a reminder will be issued. If the infraction is egregious, players may be removed after a single strike.
Characterization must be consistent with canon/the original story the character is from, when taking into account in-game developments. Characters should be recognizable as the character throughout their tenure in the game.
IC =/= OOC. Characters' interactions with each other should have no bearing on the OOC interactions between players. IC conflicts? Wonderful! We love them! OOC conflicts? Please see rule #1. Keep in mind that characters also do not have all the information that players do. Please avoid infomodding.
Do not godmode or 4th wall (without permission). Players are in control of their own characters. You should not take control of them without explicit agreement from the other player. Likewise, some players play from pop culture canons that your character might be generally familiar with if they are from a modern canon. Always check player permissions to see if they are okay with 4th walling or ask them directly.
Do not powergame. Apocalypse How allows characters to retain powers from their native reality; however, all powers come with a significant price attached, and some powers will need to be nerfed entirely (discussed with mods upon apping). Please keep this in mind when threading any fights with PCs or NPCs, and remember to communicate with fellow players.
Be liberal with content warnings and warn for content as appropriate. This is a horror game and horrific events will occur unexpectedly. Use log starters and tag subject lines to add content warnings. Additionally, all NSFW content should be locked to the community and warned for. Characters involved in sexual content must be at least 18-years-old. If characters are younger than that, take it to a musebox.
The following types of plots/character interactions are not allowed: rape, sexual violence, underage sex, pregnancy.
Post your activity check on time. There is a monthly activity check. AC is checked between the 1st and 5th of each month, and there is a permanent AC page where players may post activity at any time during the month. There will be an AC reminder posted on the 3rd of the month. No AC warning list will be provided. Please set calendar reminders, if necessary, to ensure you are submitting AC on time.
If your character is swept for AC, you may not re-app until two application rounds have passed. If your character is dropped, you may not re-app until one application round has passed. The character will not be held in reserve for you during this period.
If you need to take time off from the game, take time off. You are allowed 1 AC strike per 4-month period. You are allowed 1 hiatus per 4-month period. Strikes and hiatuses may not be taken consecutively. Please contact the mods if there are extenuating circumstances. We're happy to be flexible! We just need to understand what's going on.
The mods reserve the right to use discretion when moderating the game. If something is not explicitly within the rules, or we need to make exceptions, we will do so. Please just use common sense and remember to communicate with us. We are committed to doing the same for our players.
