Hello! I have some questions because I'm interested in applying with Eda from The Owl House.
I read where you answered about the staffs in regards to Hunter's, and she has one of the same type. I'd like to go with the same solution of sharing an entity/fear reservoir with Owlbert (her staff animal.) She also uses glyph based magic, something which is powered by the ambient magical setting in canon but I'd like to tie to an entity so she can use it here.
However, she's also cursed.
She transforms into an aggressive monster called the Owl Beast under stress, something which she normally keeps at bay (or can be changed back) with magic potions from her setting. This seems to happen much less than it used to (I'll expand on that) but I figure it still would with enough stress. She also has the power to partially transform into a more humanoid 'harpy' and stay in control of herself.
I assume not feeding an entity at all would be one way around needing the potions, since transforming is a superhuman ability even if it's unintentional? I also like the idea that feeding an entity/keeping herself powered up enough for her intentional transformations would bring back the risk of full transformations. Since the potions probably can't be made/acquired in setting, I'm also assuming it would take entity-based power to hold this off or change back?
I'm curious how the disguises would work--the harpy form is mostly tall with bird legs and wings, so it could probably still work as a 'human'--would the Owl Beast look like an animal but a less fantastical one if she transformed out in the world? It's a big, quadrupedal flying predator, so I feel like the human disguise would be... very stretched to the limit.
I also have... a slightly complicated pitch? I completely understand if it breaks the rules of having more than one patron entity, but since magical pets can be connected to their own I figured I'd ask.
Basically, the Owl Beast is technically a separate entity. I don't think it's in any way a playable character--it's an animal that behaves like a wild animal, doesn't talk and has been shown to communicate with her to a degree, but it's unclear if it's as complex even as the staffs in that regard so far.
It used to be a magical animal that was captured, had its corporeal form taken away, and is now trapped in Eda's mind when it doesn't have control of her body. When she fully transforms, the Owl Beast is in charge of the body. When she partially transforms, she is in control of the harpy body but to partially transform she first has to convince it to consciously cooperate (so far, by offering to feed it.) Now that she's befriending it the full transformations seem to be less of an issue, but it's mentioned that she still keeps up with the potions.
It makes sense to me to tie the Owl Beast to the Hunt, for the obvious reason that it's a predator she already bargains with by hunting for/with it, but also for the reason that the Hunt would likely be its own biggest fear--we see it have its own trauma nightmares about being hunted down until it had its physical body taken away.
On the other hand, I like the idea of having Eda's more direct uses of magic (her staff, her glyphs) be tied to a patron that fits HER better. I'm still thinking about it, but I feel like the best fit would be the Lonely.
Sorry for the wall of text! Let me know if there's anything I need to clarify and if any of these ideas work the way you'd like or not, I'm happy to rework stuff.
